Learning Katakana

I’m still quite having a difficulty in recognizing Katakana~ I don’t know why… Perhaps there are some Hiragana and Katakana characters that look similar? Just like the what before, i mistakenly read “re” (i said “shi”) I felt quite stupid since “shi” (し) is a hiragana, and it cannot be joined with Katakana! Well, I think i still have a long way to go to be fluent in Japanese -____-
